Hi, nice to meet you! I’m Sarah of Sarah Luther Photography.
Hi there! I’m Sarah, a San Jose & Bay Area based wedding and family photographer. Growing up in beach town of Aptos, Santa Cruz, California, I was always enamored by the beauty of nature all around me. My Mom was always taking pictures, and the passion for capturing moments in time rubbed off on me.
I get excited about photographing each wedding as if it were my own. My family jokes about how they expected to see me walking down the aisle at my own wedding carrying a camera.
I love the new relationships I build from working with couples, and seeing the joy on their faces; forever in the moment through the lens.
Currently I live in San Jose with my amazing husband, Ori ( often my second shooter), two cats, Bentley and Biscuit, and German Shepherd Dog, Ruby (all rescues).
When I am not working on photography, you will find me hiking, traveling, singing karaoke (how my husband and I met) or binge-watching my favorite TV shows.
Style
I specialize in photojournalism with a taste of traditional photography. Yet my style is tailored to each couple. I love the naturalness of photojournalism, as some of the best memories in a wedding are those spontaneous moments you could never have planned for. Keeping that in mind, I believe the traditional family portraits should be done quick and painlessly, allowing you to savor your experience of getting married.
On your big day you'll see us working quietly behind the scenes to capture all of the best moments. We partner with the rest of your wedding day team and work together quickly to make sure your day is flawless.
We have 3 fur babies.
Bentley - Is our gray tabby. Mr. Social is always rushing to greet strangers. My husband and I joke that he is a dog caught in a cats body. He spends his time cuddling, sun bathing, and fighting off biscuits over enthusiastic affection.
Biscuit - Is the bossy baby . Ever since he was a little fluff ball ( tiny enough to fit in a palm), he has been trying to be top dog in the house. He is fearless. He spends his time keeping his 90 lb. canine sister, Ruby, in line. He is also a lap magnet.
Ruby - She is the latest addition to our family. A special needs rescue, Ruby is a kind and gentle soul. She spends her days attempting to play with her kitten brothers, going on walks, getting in the way of her parents workouts. Biscuit has some competition when It comes to being a lap cat (psstt.. don’t tell Ruby she isn’t a lap cat).
Beaches , Hills & Traveling.
When I am not working, I love to take advantage of the gorgeous beaches of Santa Cruz County, with my husband and Ruby.
We love exploring the trails year round on foot and on mountain bikes.
When we get a chance we love to drive a few hours for a day trip or weekend getaway! Some of our favorite places to visit are my hometown, Aptos, Tiburon, Mendocino, Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur.
